There are a whole lot of different programs for Windows that people can download that were made to just be fun. They aren't necessarily any sort of games or helpful programs; they're just meant to be cool and funny. Desktop Goose is exactly this type of download. It's a virtual goose that waddles and quacks around on your desktop home screen, interacting with you and reacting based on what you do. It's not a modern 3D image; it's a very pixelated goose that looks like something that came from a Nintendo game. Though, for many users, that's exactly what the charm of it is. It's a goofy and fun program that's meant to be whimsical and not serious.

What is Desktop Goose?

Desktop Goose is basically an interactive video that you download and allow to run on your desktop screen. You get the image of a very pixel-heavy white goose that moves around to interact with you. It can be customized and you can change the size of the goose, but its only function is to interact with you while you're using the computer.

Since it's such a lightweight program that only does one thing, a lot of people are suspicious of it, believing it might be some sort of malware, or perhaps only a GIF image that moves slightly yet doesn't do anything else. While it's true that Desktop Goose doesn't do a whole lot, it's not any type of virus or malware, and it's not a GIF image. It can actually be programmed to change behaviors based on how you use your computer.

Features of Desktop Goose

Unfortunately for people who like to really customize the programs they use, there aren't a lot of features at all with Desktop Goose. You download and open it, add it specifically to your desktop, and you get a goose that waddles around. There's nothing much more to it than that. As a PC toy, you can play around with it a little bit to customize its behaviors slightly. You can do this as soon as you download it and open it up. You'll see a very simplistic control panel that will allow you to select from a list of pre-defined options.

You cannot do much with the goose here. You can make some changes about the way it walks and how it moves its head around. It's more of something that your kids might like to have on their computer screen. It doesn't really do anything but move around some.
